The 30th Anniversary Celebration and Seminar

 

December 10 is World Human Rights Day. The Chinese Democratic Education Foundation (CDEF) held the day of the 30th anniversary celebration and the 30th "The Outstanding Contribution Prize for Democracy of China " awards ceremony in San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader of the US House of Representatives, attended the celebration and presented the award to Tang Jingling, the winner of the 30th " The Outstanding Contribution Prize for Democracy of China ".


"China Democracy Education Foundation" was founded in 1986, the founder is San Francisco Chinese Frank Huang. The 1989-generation exile took over the banner from the older generation. 89 leaders and well-known pro-democracy activists Zhou Fengsuo, Lin Mu Chen has served as president, currently Zheng Fang serves as president, who was a former Beijing student and tanked off both legs in the June Fourth massacre by the People's Liberation Army.

 


Mr Fang said: “CDEF 30 years of unremitting efforts to promote China's democratic progress, but also witnessed the hardness to develop China's democracy.  In the past 30 years, the CDEF has firmly to stand-on to the aim of our initial principle. In 1986, Liu Binyan, Wei Jingsheng and Wang Ruoshui were the first winners, and today, Tang Jingling won the 30th The Outstanding Contribution Prize for Democracy of China , there are already 91 winners in the glorious list, witnessing the difficult journey of democratic process in contemporary China, our predecessors, brought us the spirit of courage, we will continue to promote liberty and democracy for China.


Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader of the US House of Representatives, was invited to attend the celebration. Sge has been a long time supporter of CDEF. In 1992, she was awarded the title of " The Outstanding Contribution Prize for Democracy of China " by CDEF. Nancy Pelosi praised the CDEF with 30 years of persistence and efforts. She read a long list of Chinese political dissidents who were persecuted, and said they would continue to pay attention to them. They also pledged to continue to support China's freedom, democracy and human rights in the future.


After the speech, Nancy Pelosi presented the 30th " The Outstanding Contribution Prize for Democracy of China " award to Wang Yanfang, wife of winner Tang Jingling. Mr. Tang Jingling is currently detained in prison in China, Tang Jingling wife Wang Yanfang on behalf of her husband to accept the award.


There were four family members of Chinese political prisoners invited to address in the celebration and called the international society to pay more attention to their fathers and husbands and CCP autorities’ illegal torture and persecution. They are Wang Tian-an, daughter of Wang Bingzhang who was kidnapped and sentenced to life imprisonment, Geng Ge, daughter of Gao Zhisheng who was Chinese human right lawyer, Jin Bianling, wife of Chinese lawyer Jiang Tianyong who was disappeared without information for months, and Liu Xiaodong, wife of democratic activist Zhao Changqing.
